I think I'd hate Songkran. It might be fun for an hour, but cannot see how people might do that all week, if they do that. Stand around and fire off water, maybe hit someone's smartphone, destroying it.

I would stay indoors. Just go on YouTube for half an hour and you've seen it all.

You just have to remember to do all of your shopping before the festival begins and take cover indoors and let it pass...

Actually, judging from the videos online, it looks like a lot of people are bored waiting for cars to go by. Or there is copious amounts of drinking and then the passing out the rest of the afternoon and evening.
